Old Pictures

My Aunt Christina sent me some ancient pictures that brought back a lot of memories and I thought I would share some.

Stormclouds and Rainbows

We had our first rain shower and caught a glimpse of a huge rainbow. Ryan, Nate, Robyn, Jack, Jill and I sat on the front porch to watch the showers and impressive lightning displays. Ryan actually got his bathing suit and eventually danced in the rain. LOL

When the storm rolled in the skies darkened and all of our solar lights snapped to life. The dogs were startled and Jack became alert and cautious while Jill cowered and yelped at the repeated claps of distant thunder. Nathaniel watched everything with wide eyes while his mother held him in her arms and the slow drizzle that had rolled in became a torrential downpour. Puddles formed in our yard as the intensity of the rain increased and then just as Ryan was running out in his bathing suit and the dogs we're hiding under the chairs the rain slowed to a light drizzle and then stopped.

As the sun broke through the clouds the solar lights flickered back to rest and a rainbow appeared through a clearing in the trees just east of our house. It was quite tranquil and a relaxing after-dinner break before we got back to the unpacking and the work of moving in. Here's some pictures.

Our Cul-de-sac is drenched.

Jack and Jill. I brought them up onto the porch with us and snugged their leashes into the chair to get a picture of them. Jill hates thunder and anything loud. (Vacuums, drills, saws, loud movies hehe)

The rainbow! I took this with my cellphone. I only had my cellphone and my 1 mega pixel lighter cam with me... I have no idea where our camera's are yet. :)

Mommy and Baby. (I have to remember to put the cushions that actually go with those chairs on them.) Nate didn't mind the rain at all. He wasn't fussy but rather calmly watched everything with a look of serene curiosity.

Another shot of the rainbow.

Ryan in the Rain!

After the storm Ryan went back to Mount & Blade. (There at .851... they might actually release soon) You can see a glimpse of the mess behind him. :)

Das Move! Da Big one Ya!

We really had an all star cast this time for the big move. Looking back I may have labeled the big and small move incorrectly but nonetheless this move went like clockwork!

I will have more pictures to add later but I want thank everyone involved, Robyn's parents, Deb Deb, Renee and Owen, Sean, Kelly, Travis, Scott, Dan Gebben, Dan Riedinger, Mark Jr., Jason, Erin and Patrick Black.

These guys worked harder and faster then anything I could have predicted or planned. They donated their time and gas and all I had to do was feed them and give them alcohol. (Although some preferred root beer and water.)

We started somewhere around 11 and we were wrapped up in ONE trip at 4:30. We even had time for lunch in between. Travis and Dan Gebben drove the U-haul for me and this thing was HUGE, 26 feet long and probably first commissioned in the 80s! Nonetheless combined with 3 Pickup trucks and one van we were done. I have to wake up in 5 hours at this point so I'm going to go to bed here, But I wanted to post some pictures and thank everyone involved. Your help was GREATLY appreciated and even though I live in the boondocks I hope you all come visit me soon!

Thanks to everyone for their overzealous and professional help. I will note we did not even NICK a single wall or stain any carpet. We did this move in record time with time to spare! Thanks again! Here's some pictures and I will try to post more later.

Dan, Jason, Travis, Bob, Sean and Kelly!

Mark Jr! Him and Ryan moved SOOOOOO many boxes by handcart! They really helped out a lot and they had great fun doing it.

Scott!!! This guy even brewed his own blend of beer for us! (Actually REALLY good too... It's kind like a double Bach!) He also helped moving and drove me to pick up the pizzas that kept everyone from passing out!

Dan Gebben in the flesh. The man, the myth and the legend. This guy taught me almost everything I know from driving to morals, so if you have any complaints see him. Always the dad to me he had influenced my life in more ways then I can ever put into words and it is my mom and dan and dan's loving wife from which I learned how to survive. (I still have memories of graph paper budgets and lectures of income. Income doesn't matter, but budgeting does! He showed up early and helped pack up truck before he had to drive the U-haul! (He once drove a u-haul from MI to FL!!!)

Jason and Erin. This happy go lucky couple helped us out every step of the way in BOTH moves. I''m still trying to convince them that we're not that far away and still worth the trip to visit but I don't know how convincing I've been. Hehe. Jason is amazing for his physical endurance despite a bad knee and I've never seen Erin upset or angry and she helped out as much as she took care of Nate. (More pictures of Nate soon... Sorry I've been so bust lately)

Dan Riedinger. The smartest man I know. (That's what Kathleen used to tell me hehe) Dan OFFERED to help when I never planned to put him in such an inconvenience. I have worked with Dan for a few years and have been tubing and boating with him. At work he helps guide me in the right directions without making me feel stupid and always is up for a coffee run. He went through a lot of trouble to make it today and it is greatly appreciated. I hope to have him and his new future wife over for dinner but I'm not sure how to entice him to show up without my own personal lake and 2 screaming kids to boot! His help was greatly appreciated especially when he let his talents for doing things efficiently bleed through his charming exterior to get so many people back on track.

A group shot. Probably the best shot I have of Travis (Who you can see in the Niagra and Sean's wedding pictures). This guy was born only 2 days before me and we are so close I can almost read his thoughts. He took up the intimidating job of driving a 26 foot 1980 diesel uhaul with warming lights and crazy suspensions mechanics and a gear ratio which didn't make sense with no complaints. He hung out until the bitter end (Around 9 when I was quite inebriated with scotch hehe...) And moved like he was immune to pain. He volunteered (or I volunteered him hehe) to help me put in my garage door openers. He's also trying to learn German with me which is great because unlike him I need the encouragement!

Sean O'Connor. The newly wed. (This guy gets more press on my blog then I do LOL!) Of course Sean was there with his pickup truck and his beautiful wife to lend a hand. Now this picture may not do him justice but he worked like 10 men combined into one!

He added a lot of humor to our move and kept everyone in much better spirits then I could could have managed alone. He even moved the ridiculously heavy 12 foot cherry wood desk I have that he said he would never move again. Granted Travis disassembled it into like 6 parts but now I'm thanking them all because I think I'm going to use that desk again in my family room. (Planning and unpacking is a pain!!!!)

The beautiful couple. I won't go into detail here. hehe. But I will say Kelly was a HUGE help. She seemed kind of annoyed with me when I gave here 1 or 2 things and said these are for X room. She was like I can take more.... Don't you have anything else. Etc etc.

She was a trooper though and helped out just the same. It was nice having her and Sean there together. I hope they visit more often as I have so few couple friends! She seems to be adapting to CT well!

More Sean and Kelly!

You might have noticed that I didn't include any pictures of the house and that is pretty much because it is a MESS! Perhaps after a week or two I will upload more pictures. Tonight we aren't even sleeping there since I have to work at 4 am, but over the next couple of weeks we will put things in order and post more pictures. I want to thank everyone again for their hard work! We are finally moved and I have all of you to thank!

Some more moving pictures plundered from Sean & Kelly.

Ryan and Nathaniel

The boys were in great moods this morning. Ryan lost a tooth yesterday and the tooth fairy came and left a note and a dollar in a tooth chest. Nathaniel was just very happy and hanging out this morning.

Can you find the missing tooth?

New house Walk Thru

Well the house is done. You can now see the finished porch, some rudimentary landscaping and our stepping stones. You will note that there is no number yet nor a mail box but we can take care of that.

The house looks great. We noted some items with Joe and he's going take care of everything for us. (We espicially want a water hookup for our refrigerator.) Projects I have planned for this summer are:
  • Moving In (Done, Thanks Everyone)
  • Hooking up a water softener/purifier. (Done)
  • Installing a Mailbox (Done)
  • House Numbers (Done)
  • Outdoor Thermometers (Done)
  • Installing TWO garage door openers (Done)
  • Installing a dog door (May not want to this anymore)
  • Building a deck (Done)
  • Paving the driveway (Done)
  • Invisible Fence for doggies. (Done)
  • Dog Room in Basement (May not want to this anymore)
  • Garden (Done)
  • Extensive Camera System. (In progress)
Really I KNOW I'm not even going to be able to afford all these things this year let alone do them all. Anyways, heres some pictures of the house. You can all see it if you help me move or at the house warming party.

The Conservatory.
The Fireplace works and throws more heat then I would have expected. I almost wonder if I shouldn't have gone with just a LCD fireplace considering I have central air. But it is nice and you can keep the house cooler and spot heat either the conservatory or the family room where we will be spending much our time anyways.

Seans Wedding

I have returned from MI and Sean's wedding. It was a wonderful wedding up in Muskegon, MI. Kelly Corbin is now officially Kelly O'Connor. They have my Congratulations and best wishes for the next few hundred years. (They really do make a great couple.) Katie and Angela were the Brides Maids, Maya (Angie's Daughter) was the flower girl. (Maya is only 13 months so Jared pulled her down the aisle and she was adorable!) Tommy and I were the Groomsmen! Dan Rudd (Angie's Brother) was the pastor.

Dan gave a great ceremony, short and to the point in the 90 degree church. During the rehearsal he was funny and very personable. He was one of the most charismatic people I have ever met who also believed in god. Dan also had a very nice camera with tripod that he used to tape the ceremony, wireless headset etc etc. He was connected. He was the perfect choice for the ceremony. If Robyn and I ever officially tie the knot I may track him down and fly him out to CT to perform the ceremony.

There is a LOT more to tell. Karaoke nights, they all went out partying a few nights, I hung out with Rich Cianci and Sean's parents for a while. It was really a good time. The Best Man Tommy and the Bride's Maid Katie both had incredible speeches for the toast. (Katie forgot to bring a glass but Angie's Husband was looking out for her) The depth of emotion at the reception was really quite moving and I was happy to see Sean and Kelly make it official and even more pleased with how happy and sincere they both were. I was honored to be invited and to be there.

After the festivities Travis and I drove back to CT at 45 mpg with his Prius. On the way back we stopped at Niagra's. Here's some pictures.
