Trees Removed

Ack!!! No Trees! We had our trees removed in the backyard to open up the space and provide room for expansion if needed. My poor mongrels had to be kenneled up for the removal process. (They can still get in or out of the house but the prefer the run of the yard.)

As you can see we still have quite a mess to clean up. We will be terraforming the backyard shortly. The plans exist in my mind but how to pay for it? My current plan, start small and do one thing at a time until its all done.

Work continues

You probably remember this: http://shawnx.blogspot.com/2006/02/demolition-begins.html See below for what it looks like now. :) Next up, we have to sand, then prime and paint. Then we have to screw down an additional subfloor so we can lay our new tiled floor out.

I'll post some pictures this weekend which is hopefully when we will finally complete this.

Barbeque at Dan and Jude's

Saturday was a blast. We went to Dan and Jude's for a barbeque and saw Tanya, Mark, Aleah and even Cassie made here return today. Judy had prepared an excellent bean and corn salad that tasted great while being a little break from the normal salad with dinner routine. We also snagged some fresh basil from their garden! (I love Basil!)

Above you can see part of the kids Water fight. They threw Water Ballons and things really got crazy when the uncontrolled crazy daisy sprinker came under the control of Ryan the Terminator. (I filled all of the water ballons hehe)

We also spent some time reminiscing about the olden days and everyone had some ice cream with fresh blueberries added. The remainder of the evening passed quickly. I watch Aeon Flux, (GREAT movie btw), LOVED it, then I played some DDO before retiring.

Sunday was a busy day. We had breakfast at home and woke up to a beutiful morning... no dogs barking, windows all open, AC off... wow... I have to say it was a great day. We had breakfast at home and then we started working. First we had some friends over while I was cutting sheetrock for the upstairs bathroom from hell project, so I got a bit a break before we decided to replace our bedroom light with the 'Most complicated ever Ceiling fan/Light kit'. Anyways, someone suggested that they could put up the ceiling fan for us in 15 minutes, 3 hours later they left and the fan was still lying on my bed. Luckily Robyn's dad stopped by to fix their wiring and screw stripping madness and I was able to complete the project. It looks great.

Tuesday update: I posted a picture of the first ceiling fan in our bedroom. Monday Robyn, Ryan and I put the second one in as well so I'll have to post atleast one more picture of that. We did the second one considerably faster taking us only an hour and a half. Looks great and we discovered quite accidentally that the lights have a DIMMER switch. I'll fix the top trim and post some more pictures later.

Boating on Lake Pocotopaug

Robyn, Ryan and I went to Lake Pocotopaug to go boating with Dan. After cruising for a bit, Robyn and Ryan tried tubing for a while and later went out on the jet ski. (Ryan was a bit of a lead foot on the Jet Ski which almost sent mommy for a drink in the lake. Hee hee)

Overall is was a beutiful day and we had a blast! It was Ryan's first time out on a speed boat and he thinks we should get one for our house. Sorry the pictures are so bad, I only had my cellphone on me at the time.
