Max O'Hartford 5k

The family met Erin, Jason, Dan and the Fleet Feet 5k Running group in downtown Hartford today to run the Max O'Hartford 5k. It was a giant event with close to 3000 people showing up to run. They had free beer and free corn beef sandwiches for all the participants as well as commemorative shirts and glasses. I always love the atmosphere at a running event because everyone is so happy, positive and polite. Nathaniel ran in the Wee Mile event and he loved participating and getting his number pinned on. There were three Wee Mile events depending on the age of the child and Nate ran in the 100 yard dash. Pucky the whale showed up just before the Wee Mile event began to see the kids off. Nate was crazy fast and was one of the first kids to finish. It was a great day to be Hartford and we all had a lot of fun. I hope to see you all at the next race!

After the race we headed back home and when we stopped for gas we saw some horses at the gas station. They crossed the street and headed up past subway towards the schools. Here are the race results and some pictures. (I think Jason and Erin may have more pictures as well)

2011 Race to fill the pantry

The family got to run in the 2011 Race to fill the pantry out in Glastonbury. They hosted a 5k Walk, 5k Run and a Kids Run. Meme and Pop Pop came out to support us, take some great pictures and to keep an eye on Nathaniel. Penny and Chelsea also ran the race with us. (Chelsea won Second for her age group!)

Here are some pictures and a video. We hope to run it again next year.
Nathaniel Ran in his first race today and had a blast.

I turned 36 the other day

My birthday began with a harried morning as we headed off to the Salmon River Race. Once we got there we had a fantastic time hanging out with family and friends. Afterwards we headed home to shower and then I took the boys out to see Thor. It was a great film and the first 3D movie Nathaniel was able to watch while keeping the glasses on. He was quite impressed with the effects.
When we returned from the movies Meme and Pop Pop were over and we had a fantastic birthday party. My first present was a grill which was a good idea since Robyn had invited everyone over for a barbecue and my old grill was now at the junk yard.
Looks Sharp. I also found some new grill utensils and an apron inside the grill. :)
The Boys helped with Shucking the corn
A fishing pole! (We plan to do a lot of fishing this year)

New Shirts! Love the style. I always get complimented at work on the shirts I wear. I can't take any credit as I haven't bought a shirt in over a decade. :)

Nathaniel was there to help me with every present

From the GRR (Glastonbury Road Race) Great frame make the picture really pop which was needed for that race day. It poured for the entire run. You can see Robyn holding the umbrella.

This was my birthday cake! Very creative and a fantastic use of perspective. If you look at the third guy in the back it looks like he is coming up the hill. This felt particularly fitting after enduring the Salmon River race. (The first 4 miles were completely up hill) Also the guy in front has the number 36. :)

Another shot of the cake
Afterwards it was ice cream and cake from everyone. After the party Travis, Abe and Marion stopped by and we hung out for the night. Travis has a new toy. (The iPad 2) Looks like a great device and is pretty addictive. I did try some of the birthday gift Dan got me.

...Oh and now I am older. :)

2011 Salmon River Road Race

We recently ran in the Salmon River 5.5 Mile Run. The course was particularly challenging for me because of the varied terrain and my failure to dress for the weather. Nonetheless it was a great time and we got to spend some time with our friends and family. (Including the Colchester Dental Group) We especially appreciated Meme and Pop Pop for watching Nate and Ryan, taking so many great pictures and supporting us.
